Congress 2024
Patronage: Siemtje Möller
Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Defence
Welcome speech from the head of the institute

Dear colleagues, dear congress participants,
as head of the Bundeswehr Institute of Preventive Medicine, I cordially invite you to the First International Congress for Preventive Medicine (1st PrevMed) of the Bundeswehr Medical Service from September 2nd to 4th, 2024, which follows the motto
„Resilient in mission. Healthy in life."
for our servicemen and women to Koblenz. This statement is gaining in importance because of the geostrategic situation these days.
The six lecture sessions are intended to allow a 360 degrees view of the different aspects of preventive medicine and their assignment in the research of the Bundeswehr Institute of Preventive Medicine. For details of the event, please refer to the congress programme, which we are constantly updating and have provided it here for you to download.
The national and international speakers come from both the military and my civilian network. As international speakers, I am particularly pleased that Dr. Amy Adler from the USA, Professor Dr. Guido Simonelli and Professor Dr. François Haman from Canada have announced their attendance. As representatives of the civilian national speakers besides Colonel (MC) (res.) Professor Dr. Dr. David Groneberg of the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, I would also like to mention Professor Dr. Wilhelm Bloch of the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln. My invitation is of course also addressed to all civil institutions that are engaged scientifically with the topic of preventive medicine.
I see this first congress as a starting signal for the networking of departmental research and civil research in the preventive medical context and as an opportunity for all participants to expand the existing scientific networks.
As host and head of the Bundeswehr Institute of Preventive Medicine, which is located both in beautiful Andernach and in beautiful Koblenz, I am very much looking forward to this "starting signal". Koblenz, located in the beautiful World Heritage Site of the Middle Rhine Valley, is an excellent place to meet colleagues, socialise, discuss and exchange views on the many different aspects of preventive medicine research. I am sure that this personal exchange on the important topics of preventive medicine will lead to a "win-win" situation for everyone.
In this spirit, I look forward to your participation in the First International Congress for Preventive Medicine (1st PrevMed) of the Bundeswehr Medical Service under the motto "Resilience in mission. Healthy in life.” for our servicemen and women, to many exciting, critical and varied contributions, as well as the exchange with you!
Yours
PD Dr. med. Manuela Andrea Hoffmann, head of the institute
